Pick a domain name

• Your domain name may only contain letters, numbers, or dashes ("-").
• Cannot contain spaces or other punctuation.
• Cannot begin or end with a dash.
• Cannot have more than 22 characters, excluding the 4 characters used to
  identify the top-level domain (.COM, .NET, .ORG, .EDU, .GOV).

• Click here for a free download of this script. The name of the file is whois.zip.

• Unzip this file, using a program such as Winzip . This should yield 3 files: domain.htm, util.cgi, and whois.cgi.

• To change the appearance of the page above, edit domain.htm

• To change the logo on the page that returns the results of the domain name search, open util.cgi with a text editor such as Notepad, and find the following line:

                     $logo = "/images/web2010m.gif";

            and enter the URL of the logo you wish to have at the top of the page that returns the results.

• Using FTP, place util.cgi and whois.cgi in the cgibin directory of your domain. Place domain.htm in the directory where all of your other html files are located (this directory may be called either www, wwwfp, or Microsoft® FrontPage®).

• Your script should now work. Enjoy!
